The Bottom Line
Surfshark is one of the main disruptors in the VPN market, providing a quality service at a significantly lower price than its competitors. As an all-rounder, it offers solid speeds, access to most streaming platforms, and a generous server network. Most famously, you can install and use the VPN on as many devices as you’d like. However, in day-to-day use, we were frustrated by some UX issues and slight performance gaps that ultimately place it just behind the elite VPNs.

Considering its extensive ad campaigns, you’ve probably already heard of Surfshark VPN and how affordable it is. This is undeniable, but here’s the truth: Surfshark starting price is actually too cheap.
Since first shaking up the market in 2018, Surfshark has massively contributed to the current ‘one-upmanship’ of the VPN price wars. For us, this creates false expectations around what the price of a VPN subscription should be, and shifts the focus away from who is making the best product.
This is not to say Surfshark isn’t a great VPN. It is the only provider we’ve reviewed to score 8.0+ in every single testing category, demonstrating its unmatched versatility.
In practice, this translates to a VPN that can handle anything you throw at it; whether that’s long-distance video calls, streaming live sport events, or just regular web browsing.
It also manages to continue to innovate, despite its low prices, with the introduction of unique features and server types, like ‘Multi IP’ and its GPS tool.
Our only real critique revolves around user experience. While its apps are clearly cutting-edge, they are overloaded with features, often slow to connect, and feature some odd design choices on mobile.
